Our Story
Meet Dash
Dash our miniature Dachshund, was our muse and the inspiration that lead Eugene to knit again! During Lockdown in 2020 we were gifted with this gorgeous puppy, a true bundle of joy! As the winter approached, our slim and trim little sausage began to shiver from the cold. Bingo, Eugene decided there and then to knit him a sweater…thus rekindling his love for knitting! Always interested in every single movement we make, Dash remains a major part of our business!
Meet Eugene
Eugene’s career in Dental Technology soon changed to the Food & Beverage Industry when he realised that he was more interested in the flavours that were celebrated in the mouth than the enamel that coated the teeth! Studying in Switzerland, he learnt the importance of quality and perfection in all spheres of business, a principle he strongly adheres to. Many years later during Lockdown, his entrepreneurial spirit kicked in. Having lost his ability to taste and smell due to Covid-19, he decided to pursue another career. Our little Dash was the catalyst and knitting became paramount in our lives! His little sweater was soon followed by mittens, beanies, socks and an incredible Fair Isle sweater.
And so MightyLongDog was born…
Today, Eugene heads up all the production and finance.

Meet René
René has been involved in the Clothing Industry for decades. Designing ranges for all the major chain stores involved travelling abroad for research. This eventually changed to Freelance Pattern Making for smaller companies when motherhood approached. International author of books instructing Pattern Making, Sewing and Fitting for both adults and children, she is currently working on an eBook in this field. To complement their new business, she is using her experience in the role of design, colour and quality control.
